DALLAS, Texas -- The awards keep rolling in for Augustana's junior first baseman Jordan Barth. Just days after garnering his third NSIC Player of the Week honors, Barth has been named the NCBWA Central Region Player of the Week the association announced Thursday.

"For me, I started to click at the plate again," Barth said. "The first two weekends of the season were a little shaky, but I felt like myself last weekend and it was great to hit the ball well."

The Cold Spring, Minnesota, native hit the ball more than just well. He tore the cover off the ball against Southwest Baptist in Augustana's three-game sweep of the Bearcats. Overall, Barth went 8-for-12 with five runs scored, seven RBI's, one homer, one double, one walk and two stolen bases. In game three, the junior went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI singles for a total of four RBIs on the day.

Barth has now hit safely in every game this season, owns an 11-game hitting streak, and has 21 hits, nine RBIs, five doubles, a homer and three stolen bases. He is currently hitting .477 with an OBP of .489 and SLG% of .659.

"I'm very excited to see where this season takes our team," said Barth. "We have a lot of talent that can take us far and it was nice to see all of that come out this weekend. Once we get rolling, I have a feeling that we are going to be a very hard team to stop."

Barth and the rest of the Vikings are back in action Tuesday, March 10 for their home-opening doubleheader against Briar Cliff. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
