SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Seniors Riley Johnson, Sam Baier and Parker Hanson were selected to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Johnson, an outfielder, is majoring in mathematics and currently holds a 3.51 GPA. The senior started all 13 games for the Vikings and hit .340 with two homers and eight RBIs in the shortened season.

Baier, the Viking shortstop, is majoring in elementary education and holds a 3.41 GPA. The senior also started all 13 games for Augustana with a .292 batting average, three doubles, one triple and one homer.

Hanson, a transfer pitcher, is working on his masters in sports administration and leadership and holds a 3.56 GPA. In 9.1 innings pitched this season, Hanson had a 1.93 ERA with 11 strikeouts. He earned his first Augustana win this season in an impressive five-inning performance against Southwest Baptist with six strikeouts and one earned run.

Due to the low percentage of games completed this spring, the All-District teams are awarded based on career statistics and achievements rather than this season only.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced from June 8-11.
