Augustana Swimming Accumulates 25 Wins En Route to Victory at Midland

Men’s Swimming Earn First Program Win

FREMONT, Neb. -- The Augustana men's swimming team claimed the first win in program history as part of a dual meet sweep for the Viking swimming & diving programs. The men topped Midland 166-80 while the women were victorious in a 191-71 fashion at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center on Saturday. 

In total, the Vikings had 25 victories on the day with 14 winners coming on the women's side and 11 on the men's side. Additionally, Hailey Handevidt won her first diving event.

The women started the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:52.43. The relay consisted of Elise Dygert, Lara Matuck, Abby Nelson and Meghan Mulvihill. Augustana's B relay was close behind finishing in 1:52.51.

Emiliana Dioguardi won the 1650-Free in a time of 19:17.10.

On the men's side, Brady Monson won the 1650-Free touching the wall in 17:18.94

Augustana would win the next three events with Mulvihill and Luis Aguilar Delgado winning the 200-Free, Dygert and Jackson Dircks winning the 100-Backstroke followed by Amaya Street and Juan Salas winning the 100-Breaststroke.

Kacper Mayerberg won the 200-Fly besting the second place finisher by over four seconds, touching the wall in 1:57.19.

In the 50-Free, Nelson edged out Anna Schmidt to win in 25.85.

On the diving board, Handevidt won the one-meter dive with a score of 167.55.

Mulvihill claimed her third victory of the day winning the 100-Free in a time of 56.63, Borin also won the 50-Free coming in at 48.26.

Dygert returned to the pool to claim victory in the 200-Backstroke. Winning the event on the men's side was Aeson Akins who won by over five seconds, touching the wall in 2:02.6.

Anna Tindall won the 200-Breaststroke by over five seconds, winning in 2:32.53.

Leona Coha won her first event of the day, winning the 500-Free in 5:14.58, Mayberberg would win his second event of the day, also winning the 500-Free (4:55.63).

Augustana took wins in the next two events with Erin Danielewicz and Aguilar winning the 100-Fly with Street and Steven Asmus winning the 400-IM

Augustana finished the meet on a high note with both the men's and women's 800-free medley relays taking first place.

The women's relay won in 8:05.72. The team consisted of Street leading off for the Vikings, Mulvihill, Breckon and Coha swimming the anchor leg.

For the men, Aguilar, Monson, Asmus and Borin made up the relay, winning in a time of 7:14.52.
