Augustana Baseball Unveils 2021 Schedule

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The preseason NSIC-favorite Augustana baseball team announced its 2021 schedule Monday afternoon. The Vikings will play 40 games in the spring, 36 of which will be against NSIC foes.

Augustana opens its season 722 miles away from Sioux Falls in Lawton, Oklahoma, with a four-game series against Cameron University starting on Friday, March 5. The Vikings will also play a doubleheader that Saturday and finish the series with a single game on Sunday, March 7. The Cameron series serves as Augustana's only four-game series of the season.

Following the Oklahoma trip, the Vikings open up a 10-game homestand. The St. Cloud State Huskies visit Sioux Falls for a three-game weekend series March 20-21 followed by the SMSU Mustangs on March 24 for a mid-week doubleheader. Augustana finishes the homestand with a weekend series against Minot State March 27-28 and mid-week doubleheader against Minnesota Crookston March 30.

Following the homestand, the Vikings embark on a 10-game road trip. Augustana visits Bemidji State for a three-game weekend series April 2-3 followed by a mid-week doubleheader at Minnesota Duluth April 7. The road trip will be capped off with a weekend series at UMary April 10-11 and doubleheader at Northern State April 14.

Augustana then returns home for a quick five-game homestand with a three-game weekend series against the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears April 17-18 and a home doubleheader against crosstown rival Sioux Falls on April 21. First pitch for the rivalry game is at 5 p.m.

The Vikings then face a tough five-game road trip. They'll take on the Winona State Warriors in a three-game weekend series April 24-25 and the Minnesota State Mavericks in a mid-week doubleheader April 28. The Warriors were selected to finish sixth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll while the Mavericks were selected second.

The last home games of the regular season for the Vikings will feature a three-game weekend battle against Wayne State May 1-2. Augustana will then close out its regular season on the road in a three-game weekend series against Upper Iowa May 7-8.

Augustana, along with Sioux Falls, then hosts the NSIC Tournament May 12-15.

All NSIC weekend series' will start with Saturday doubleheaders at 1:30 p.m. (one seven and one nine inning game). The NSIC weekend series' will conclude on Sunday's with one nine inning game starting at noon.
