BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana women's basketball head coach Dave Krauth was named NSIC South Division Coach of the Year Wednesday. The Vikings also had their starting five honored by the NSIC on South Division All-Conference teams.
Senior duo Hannah Mitby and Izzy Van Veldhuizen along with the sophomore duo of Aislinn Duffy and Lauren Sees were all named to the second team. Rounding out the starters for Augustana was freshman Jennifer Aadland claiming a spot on the All-Freshman team.
Mitby was also named to NSIC South Division All-Defense team.
Krauth reached two historic milestones this year, first by achieving his 650th-career win at Augustana. Along with that, he also hit the unique milestone of 1,000 wins between high school and college. 2021 marked the third time that Krauth led his team to an NSIC South Division Championship with the last time coming in 2017-18. Coach Krauth earns a Conference Coach of the Year honor for the third time, joining 1989-90 and 2017-18.
Mitby, hailing from Burnsville, Minnesota, leads the Vikings in assists this year averaging 3.4 per game with her season-high eight assists coming against Sioux Falls. She also tied her career-high in scoring with 23 points, in a game where she also secured 10 rebounds for a double-double. She ended the regular season averaging 12.7 points per game.
Van Veldhuizen, a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, averaged 14.3 points per outing, a career-best, while grabbing 5.4 boards per contest. She has made five 3-pointers on two occasions this season and scored a career-high 26 points against Minnesota State. She ranks second in the NSIC with 38 made 3-point field goals this season.
Duffy has recorded a double-double on three occasions. Twice this season she has elevated her career-high in points starting in the first game of the year scoring 20 points, and on Feb. 20, the Rapid City, South Dakota, native scored 22 points against Wayne State. She ranks fourth in the league with a .494 field goal percentage.
Sees, hailing from Avon, South Dakota, has hit a new career-high in points this season at 28 achieved against Minnesota State. She also has grabbed seven rebounds and made four 3-pointers on two occasions this year. She currently sits at an average of 13.9 points per game.
Aadland, a native of Laramie, Wyoming, is the lone freshman starter for Augustana and has scored a season-high 13 points twice this year coming against Upper Iowa and Concordia-St. Paul. On two occasions this year she has made three 3-pointers. Aadland also has a season-high 11 rebounds coming against Minnesota State.
Augustana plays in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC Tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m. vs. MSU Moorhead. The game will be broadcast on MidcoSN and live coverage will be available at GoAugie.com/Live.
