Tanner Brown Named NSIC Pitcher of the Week After Perfect Weekend

3/29/2021 11:10:00 PM

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Three days after pitching a seven-inning perfect game against Minot State, junior southpaw Tanner Brown has been named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday morning.

Brown was in complete control all day and started the game off by striking out each of the first six Beaver hitters that he faced. His final stat line read seven innings, 21 batters faced and 21 batters sat down with 11 of them falling victim to strikeout. In addition, the junior only needed 86 pitches to accomplish the feat.

On the year, Brown improved to 2-0 on the mound with a 0.53 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched.

Saturday's performance marked the second time in history that an Augustana pitcher has tossed a perfecto. Ross Hawley twirled the last perfect game on March 12, 2000, in a 1-0 win over Minnesota Crookston.

Brown and the Vikings are back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader against NSIC foe Minnesota Crookston. Brown, however, will likely make his next start on the mound this weekend against Bemidji State.
