Augustana Track & Field has Three Provisional Marks Over Weekend

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa. -- The Augustana track & field teams completed a busy weekend with three NCAA provisional qualifying marks. The Vikings were split into three groups, traveling to the Jim Vargo Invitational, the Jim Duncan Invite, and the Red Raider Open over Friday and Saturday.

The Jim Vargo Invitational; Louisville, Ky.

A trio of 10,000m runners made the trip to Louisville, Kentucky, in search of personal bests. On the men's side, both Henry Klitzke and Kray Person ran personal bests in 30:04.83 and 31:39.07, respectively. Klitzke's time is currently ranked 15th in the nation. Sophomore Megan Means placed fifth in a new personal-best 36:38.97 just a few seconds shy of a provisional qualifier. 

The Jim Duncan Invitational; Des Moines, Iowa

Starting the day for the Vikings were Rebekah Rairdon and Rachel Rairdon in the steeplechase. Rebekah placed second in a provisional time of 10:42.33 as Rachel placed fourth in a new personal-best 11:00.79, just a second away from hitting the provisional qualifying standard.

In the men's 400m, senior Ryan Sully won the race in a time of 49.41, teammate Jed Dooyema was close behind, coming in second in 50.04. 

Senior Kali Ryan had a runner-up finish in the 800m running 2:19.38.

The Red Raider Open; Sioux Center, Iowa

In the decathlon, Tyl Woelber brought home second place with a provisional-qualifying point total of 6,348 points. Woelber won five of the events including the long jump with a leap of 23-3.25, the shot put with a heave of 39-08.25, the high jump with a jump of 6-9.5, the discus throw with a throw of 121-02, and the javelin throw with a heave of 169-01.

Freshman Melik Davis had a breakout day placing sixth in the 200m in a time of 22.18. He moved to the third spot in the NSIC this season with the time. He also ran 11.05 in the 100m which is good enough for eighth in the conference. 

Senior Selin Dikmen had a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles running a time of 1:05.76. She also grabbed first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.52.

Sydney Mudgett made her season debut in the 400m, eclipsing 60 seconds, running 59.83 for a third-place finish. 

Connor Clayton placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 45-01.5 which currently ranks fifth within the conference. 

Senior Kendra Ludeman won the high jump in 5-2.75 and currently holds the fifth spot in the NSIC.

The Vikings return to action Friday and Saturday next week while competing at the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Invite.
