Augustana Swimming & Diving Splits with Division I St. Thomas

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana swimming and diving teams competed against the Tommies of St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.

The Viking women topped the NCAA Division I foes with a score of 211 to 89. For the men's team score, Augustana fell 178-116. 

"We had another great day of racing," said head coach Lindsie Micko. "It was a tough week of training, but we did a great job."  

Augustana newcomer, Bryn Greenwaldt, continued on her success from last week in the 50-free by completing an NCAA "B" cut time of 23.99. Greenwaldt, the reigning NSIC Swimmer of the Week, found success throughout the rest of the meet by placing first in the 100-free with a time of 52.95 and was a member of the first place team in the 200-yard medley team where it finished with a final time of 1:36.01. 

Following Greenwaldt's success, the AU women competed in the 400-yard medley where Ella Ward-Zeller, Nesrine Jelliti, Angelina Chan and Kamryn Robarge swam in a final time of 3:53.64 to take first place.

Augustana divers Clare Duplissis and Kate Robbins slid into second and third place in the one-meter dive. Duplisses took second place with a final score of 214.85, while Robbins took third place scoring 211.30.

The Viking men were highlighted by Jackson Dircks in the 100-yard backstroke where he placed first while swimming in a time of 52.30. Dircks continued his success in the 200-yard backstroke where he again placed first with a time of 1:57.76. 

Augustana's Steven Asmus saw success in today's meet with a first place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:19:44. Asmus was able to capture a second place finish in the 500-free by swimming in a time of 4:54.36 inches behind the first place finisher. 

"I'm really proud of our team and the progress we are making from week-to-week." Micko added.

Augustana continues action against Division I competition on Friday as the Vikings host South Dakota State at the Midco Aquatic Center at 5 p.m.
