Augustana Swimming & Diving Prepped to Host Augustana Invitational

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana swimming & diving teams are set to host the Augustana Invitational Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Midco Aquatic Center. Thursday and Friday have a 9:30 a.m. preliminary round start followed by the 2 p.m. diving events and finish with a 5 p.m. finals. Saturday's events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a 5 p.m. finals.

The Event
Augustana will play host inside the Midco Aquatic Center this weekend with fourteen total teams competing. The opponents consist of two Division I schools, eight Division II schools, one Division III school, one NAIA school and two NJCAA schools. 

The Competition
College of Saint Mary, Concordia-St. Paul, Iowa Central Community College, Iowa Lakes Community College, Minnesota State, Northern State, South Dakota State, Southwest Minnesota State, South Dakota, UMary, Minnesota Morris, Sioux Falls, and Nebraska Kearney. 

About the Vikings
The No. 8 Viking women have seen recent success in Augustana newcomer Bryn Greenwaldt, who has been named the NSIC Swimmer of the Week two-times this season. Greenwaldt is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in the 50 free with a time of 23.03. Greenwaldt swam this time in the first weekend of competition breaking the school record for Augustana. 

Another Augstana newcomer, Clare Duplissis, has seen early success for the Augustana diving squad being tabbed the NSIC Diver to Watch for Augustana in the preseason. Following in suit of Greenwaldt, Duplissis etched her name in the record books taking hold of the 1 meter dive with a finals time 217.90 in her first competition with the Vikings. 

On the men's side, Pedro Borin recently took hold of a first place finish in the 200 butterfly with a finals time of 1:55.27 during the Coyote Extravaganza. Borin is ranked 11th in the nation in the 100 free with a finals time of 46.51. 

The Augustana women, currently ranked No. 8 in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top-25, will have a new ranking on Friday as the next poll will come out. 

The Augustana Invitational is the final swimming & diving competition for AU in the 2022 calendar year as the next competition will be a double-dual with Omaha and Sioux Falls in January.
