Augustana Women’s Hoops Readies to Host Nonconference Contests

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana women's hoops is prepared to host the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan and the Eagles of Chadron State this weekend. Both contests will take place in the Elmen Center with a 1 p.m. tip-off on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan
Following a weekend of wins, the Tigers enter this weekend's match 5-1 on the season. This past weekend Dakota Wesleyan defeated the College of Saint Mary, 100-40, and Mount Marty, 59-39. Their sole loss this season was to Jamestown, 71-64, last week on Wednesday. DWU is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll.

The Tigers are led in scoring by senior center Jada Campbell averaging 16.0 points a game. Campbell also assists the Tiger defense leading Dakota Wesleyan in rebounds per game averaging 7.0 over their past six contests. 

The contest is being played as an exhibition by the Tigers. 

The Eagles of Chadron State
Coming into this weekend, the Eagles of Chadron State are 0-4 with their last contests being a 13 point loss to NSIC opponent Wayne State, 84-71, and an 11 point drop to Nebraska-Kearney ,71-60.

The Eagles are led in scoring by Ashayla Powers averaging 19.8 points per game, while leading the squad with 7.5 rebounds per game. The sophomore forward sees the most time on the court for the Eagles averaging 31.5 minutes per game. 

The Vikings
Augustana heads into this weekend's contest 4-0 after topping the Chargers of Briar Cliff, 85-55, on Saturday and NSIC opponent Wayne State, 93-74, on Tuesday. 

Aislinn Duffy collected two double-doubles this week totaling 14 for her career. Duffy is the current leading scorer for the Vikings averaging 24.7 per game while also leading in rebounds averaging 9.7 a contest so far this season. She is the fourth leading scorer in the nation in points per game while also leading the NSIC. 

Kenzie Rensch continues to lead the Vikings in steals averaging 3.3 steals per game in the past four contests. Rensch totaled four steals in the game against Wayne State, creating her season high for 2022-23.

One Last Thing
Four Vikings are averaging double-digit scoring so far this season. Duffy leads Augustana with 24.7, followed by Lauren Sees with 15.0. Michaela Jewett sees an average of 13.0 points per game this season with Aby Phipps picking up 11.0 per game in 2022-23. Three of the four have tallied career-highs already this season with Duffy leading the way with her 33 points against Missouri Western on Nov. 12. Jewett set her career-best with 23 points against No. 3 Fort Hays State on Nov. 11. Phipps recorded her career-high of 15 points in the same contest as Duffy.
