BURNSVILLE, Minn.--Augustana volleyball saw three players earn first team all-conference honors, announced by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference on Thursday morning. Erika Bute was named the Libero of the Year while also joining teammates Maddy Guetter and Avery Thorson with first team honors.
Erika Bute
Bute, from Alden, Minnesota, has recorded 491 digs this season, leading the NSIC in total digs. Bute also leads the NSIC in digs per set with 5.17. She has held the lead for eight consecutive weeks, since the second week of play this season. The all-conference honor is Bute's second all-NSIC honor after achieving second-team honors in 2019 and 2021.
She currently has 1,612 digs in her career over the course of 318 sets being the fourth all-time leader in total digs at Augustana.
Bute is the second Viking to earn NSIC Libero of the Year honors, joining Tahlyr Banks who achieved the honor in 2016 and 2017.
Maddy Guetter
Guetter repeats on the NSIC First Team All-Conference having earned the honor a year ago. Hailing from Wabasso, Minnesota, she has completed 331 kills this season to lead the Vikings in points with 404.5. Guetter leads the NSIC in total aces and aces per set with 48 total aces averaging .51 a set.
Guetter has accomplished 1037 kills while at Augustana totaling 1193 points over the course of her career. She is the sixth all time leader in kills per set at 3.45 and the seventh all time leader in points per set with 3.96 while at Augustana.
Avery Thorson
Thorson, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has tallied 962 assists this season to lead Augustana in assists. Thorson has totaled 4,193 assists in her career with the Vikings averaging 10.15 a set. The all-conference honor is Thorsons third after receiving second-team honors in 2019 and 2021. She is fifth all-time in total assists at AU with 4,193 and the fifth all-time leader in assists per set with 10.15 while at Augustana.
Augustana concludes the regular season this weekend with a match Friday at No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul and Saturday at Minnesota State. The NSIC Tournament gets underway Friday, Nov. 11, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
