Augustana Women’s Hoops Set for Weekend Road Trip to Minnesota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's basketball squad is set for a weekend on the road to face No. 6 Minnesota State on Friday and Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday. Friday night's game is slated for a 5 p.m. tip-off while Saturday's contest is set for 3:30 p.m..

Scouting the Mavericks
Minnesota State heads into this weekend's contest being the only undefeated squad in the NSIC with a 7-0 record and a 3-0 mark in the NSIC. Last weekend, the Mavericks saw wins against Winona State, 88-69, and Upper Iowa, 83-54.

Minnesota State is led in scoring by Joey Batt averaging 17.1 points per game. Batt also leads the squad in steals per game tallying an average of 3.0 a contest. Leading the Maverick defense is Emily Russo averaging 5.3 rebounds a game. Russo saw a season-high of seven rebounds in the game against Winona State last Thursday. 

Scouting the Golden Bears
Concordia-St. Paul enters this weekend 5-2 following a weekend of wins against Upper Iowa, 71-62, and Winona State, 58-39. In the NSIC, CSP is 2-1. The Golden Bears are currently on a four-game win streak with their last loss taking place against Minnesota State three weekends ago, 91-61. 

The Golden Bears are led in scoring by Sarah Kuma who is averaging 12.1 points per game. Kuma also leads the squad in assists and steals with 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals a contest. The Concordia-St. Paul offense is led by Ally Gietzel collecting an average of 6.4 rebounds per game. Gietzel saw a season-high of 11 rebounds against Wisconsin-Parkside in the first week of competition for the Golden Bears. 

The Vikings
Augustana heads into this weekend's contest 7-1 after topping the Cougars of Sioux Falls, 87-52, and suffering its first loss of the season to SMSU, 94-60. The Vikings are currently sitting at a 2-1 record within the NSIC while remaining undefeated at home.

Aislinn Duffy leads the way for the Vikings in both scoring and rebounding this season. Duffy earned her 15th double-double in her career and third this season against USF totaling 20 points and 14 rebounds. She is averaging 18.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds following this weekend's contest. She ranks second in the NSIC in scoring, third in rebounds and leads the league with 4.3 assists per game. 

Kenzie Rensch continues to lead the NSIC in steals per game and total steals. Rensch is averaging 3.0 steals per game being ranked 15th in the nation. She has totaled 24 steals so far this season being ranked at 12th in the nation.

One Last Thing
Augustana leads the NSIC in 3-point field goal percentage at 37.7 percent. The Vikings are ranked 22nd in the nation in that category knocking down 66 of their 175 attempts this season. Michaela Jewett leads Augustana in 3-point percentage as well as 3-point shots made. Jewett has totaled 20 3-pointers this season tallying a 40.8 percentage.
