BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana track & field's Ryan Hartman has been named the NSIC Track Athlete of the Week. The Wausau, Wisconsin, native broke the school record in the 3,000m winning the event at the Nebraska Tune-Up in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Friday night.
Hartman's time of 8:04.78 ranks him first in the NSIC along with 14th in the nation. He was also just shy of breaking the South Dakota collegiate record of 8:04.17 set earlier this season.
This is the third consecutive week a Viking has been named NSIC Athlete of the week on the men's side.
The Vikings return to action at the NSIC Indoor Championships being held on Friday and Saturday at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota. Friday's competition will start at 9:30 a.m. with the heptathlon while running events start at 1 p.m. starting with the women's distance medley relay. Day two of the NSIC Championships is slated for 9 a.m. start for the pentathlon with running events starting at 1:30 p.m.
