SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Augustana baseball's Jordan Barth has signed his first professional baseball contract with the Billings Mustangs. The Billings Mustangs are a part of the Pioneer League, an MLB Partner League.
"What an awesome journey for Jordan these last 5 years. To go from a relatively unrecruited high school athlete to starting as a freshman, hitting fourth in our line-up and winning a national championship. Now 5 years and many wins later he leaves Augustana with several school records. Signing a professional contract just puts the cherry on top," said head coach Tim Huber.
Barth is now the 26th player coached by Huber that has signed a professional contract.
"He can really play the game of baseball and has an "it" factor. I have no doubt that if he chooses to grind, Jordan will play pro ball for several years."
In 2022, Barth extended his resume by adding D2CCA First-Team All-Region honors, NCBWA Second-Team All-Region honors, NSIC First-Team All-Conference honors and D2CCA Honorable Mention All-America honors. The senior was also named to the NSIC All-Tournament team.
In his career, Barth has been named the NSIC Player of the Week three times. He was named the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year twice, in 2020 and 2021. As a sophomore, Barth added NCBWA Division II Third-Team All American honors, NCBWA Central Region First-Team honors, ACBA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Region First Team honors, D2CCA Central Region First-Team honors and First Team All-NSIC honors.
As the 2018 NSIC Freshman of the Year, Barth was a member of a team that won a program-best 52 games, an NSIC Conference Tournament championship, a Central Region Tournament Championship and the school's first-ever National Championship.
Barth's contribution to Augustana baseball is shown in the career record book as he has set three records during his senior season. He ranks first in doubles (73), first in hits (332), first in RBI (219), seventh in highest batting average (.379), fourth in games played (222), third in games started (221), second in at bats (876), second in runs scored (217), second in home runs (42) and first in total bases (535).
