Augustana Alum to Compete in World Track and Field Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Former Augustana student-athlete and national champion Tom Karbo will be competing at the World Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Karbo, who competed for Augustana from 2010-13, will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase with prelims taking place Friday night. The finals for the event will take place Monday evening.
 
Both days can be watched on USA Network. Friday's prelims will be shown live while Monday's finals will be on a tape delay.
 
Karbo competes for Norway and enters the World Championship ranked No. 45 in the world.
 
While at Augustana, Karbo was the anchor on the National Champion Distance Medley Relay team in 2012. He garnered two All-America honors during his indoor seasons and claimed three more during his outdoor campaigns. He was the national runner-up in the steeplechase in 2011.
 
In addition to his national accolades, Karbo was the NSIC Newcomer of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field in 2010 and named the NSIC Athlete of the Year in 2012.
 
The World Championships are taking place on U.S. soil for the first time and take place at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.
