LEXINGTON, Ky – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) announced Monday that the Augustana volleyball team has earned the 2021- 22 AVCA Team Academic Award.
This is the sixth year in a row that Augustana has earned this award. This past year, the Vikings finished the 2021-22 school year with a 3.68 team GPA.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
"The team has once again proven its excellence in the classroom," head coach
Jennifer Jacobs said. "Being recognized by the AVCA for our team GPA is always an honor, and we are proud of our players and their consistent effort and commitment to keeping their academics front and center."
The Vikings are one of more than 1,200 teams to earn the award in 2021-22.
Augustana will begin its 2022 season at the Texas Permian Basin Tournament in Odessa, Texas, on August 26.
