Klitzke Named NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana's Henry Klitzke has been named the NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year the league announced Wednesday morning. Klitzke becomes the third men's track & field athlete from Augustana to earn the track athlete of the year honor from the NSIC. 

Klitzke, hailing from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has seen prolific strides in his final season at Augustana. He is coming off a weekend at the NSIC Indoor Championships where he won the NSIC Championship in both the 3000 meter and 5000 meter runs. Klitzke was named the NSIC High Point Scorer at the championships through collecting 20 total points. 

Throughout the season, Klitzke has been undefeated in all races. He broke the Augustana school record in the 5000 meter at the SDSU Indoor Classic. He finished the race in a time of 14:06.49 to garner an NCAA provisional mark. He collected an additional first place finish this season with a 14:06.49 time in the 3000 meter at the Mark Schuck Open & Multi back in January. 

Klitzke is now headed to Virginia Beach, Virginia, from March 10-11, to compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
