No. 23 Augustana Women’s Tennis Ready for Three-Game Homestand

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 23 Augustana women's tennis team is home this weekend for a three-game homestand Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

The Vikings will face Northwest Missouri State on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Huether Tennis Centre. The women will then face NSIC opponents St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and Sunday at the GREATLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club. Saturday's contest against SCSU is slated for a 6 p.m. start while Sunday's contest against UMD is set for a 9 a.m. serve. Sunday mornings contest will also be senior day where Augustana seniors will be recognized.

The Bearcats 
No. 10 Northwest Missouri State enters this weekend's contest with a 16-3 overall record and a 7-0 record in MIAA action. Last weekend the Bearcats collected two victories over No. 43 Northeastern State, 5-2, and No. 30 Central Oklahoma, 5-2. 

NWMSU is led by No. 1 singles competitor, Vera Alenicheva, who holds a 14-5 record in singles action. Alenicheva is ranked No. 18 in the nation in singles action with a 3-2 record over nationally ranked opponents. In doubles action, the Bearcats are led by the No. 1 doubles pair, Caroline Caetano-Reis and Sofia Pignataro, who hold a 9-9 overall record in dual action with a 1-2 record against nationally ranked opponents. 

The Huskies
St. Cloud State enters this weekend's contest with a 10-4 overall record and a 5-3 record in NSIC action. Last weekend the Huskies collected two wins over Southwest Minnesota State, 4-3, and College of Saint Benedict, 4-3. 

Augustana leads the series with a 15-5 record against the Huskies winning 14 of its last contests. 

The Bulldogs 
Minnesota Duluth enters this weekend's contest with an 8-5 overall record and 5-4 record in NSIC action. Last weekend the Bulldogs faced two losses to Southwest Minnesota State, 6-1, and Minnesota State, 7-0. 

The Bulldogs are led by No. 1 singles competitor, Shay Callaway, with a 7-3 overall record. In doubles action, UMD is led by the No. 1 doubles pair, Callaway and Megan Muller with a 3-3 record in dual action. 

Augustana is undefeated against Minnesota Duluth with a 15-0 overall record to lead the series. 

The Vikings
Augustana has remained in the top-25 rankings in the ITA national rankings this season. This week the Vikings earned the No. 23 spot while holding a 15-2 overall record and an undefeated 9-0 record in NSIC action. Last weekend the Vikings collected two victories over Upper Iowa, 4-0, and Winona State, 7-0 to extend their win streak to seven. 

The Vikings are led by No. 1 singles competitor, Florentia Hadjigeorgiou, who holds a 12-2 overall record. Hadjigeorgiou is currently ranked as the No. 25 singles opponent in the nation with a 1-0 record against regionally ranked opponents. In doubles action, Hadjigeorgiou is joined by Aleksandra Kistanova. The No. 1 doubles pair holds an undefeated 6-0 record in dual play to be ranked as the No. xx doubles pair.

One Last Thing
This weekend is the Vikings final week of regular season action. Augustana will prepare for the NSIC Tournament that will take place April 21-23 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Vikings have their sights set on their 13th-consecutive NSIC regular season and tournament title heading into postseason action.
