SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--Augustana baseball hosts cross-town foe Sioux Falls for a midweek doubleheader at Ronken Field Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars
Sioux Falls holds an overall record of 9-26 and an NSIC record of 8-13. The Cougars were last in action against the St. Cloud State Huskies over the weekend, with SCSU taking the series win 2-1. At the plate, Brady Klehr, Noah Christenson and Ben Serie have led the Cougars in 2023. Klehr is hitting .355 with 43 hits, eight doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI. Christenson follows with a batting average of .349, leading the lineup with 44 hits. Rounding out the trio is Serie with 41 hits, eight doubles and a team-leading five home runs. Grayson Skinner has spent 42 innings on the mound for USF and holds a record of 2-3. Skinner has an ERA of 7.71 and has struck out 33 batters. Reese Gaber follows Skinner with 28 strikeouts and has an ERA of 7.48.

The Vikings
Augustana is 29-14 overall in 2023 with a conference record of 18-5. The Vikings are coming off of a series sweep at Minnesota State which saw AU claim the top spot in the NSIC. Augustana has successfully stolen 108 bases this season. Leading the charge is Nick Banowetz, who is 23-of-26 on stolen base attempts. Trevor Winterstein follows closely at 22-of-25 and Jack Hines is 16-of-16. At the plate, Hines, Banowetz, Winterstein, and Drey Dirksen have been impressive for the Vikings this season. Hines leads the lineup with a batting average of .369 and has totaled 52 hits, nine doubles and 24 RBI. Dirksen tops the team with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI. Following with 11 doubles and two triples is Banowetz, who is hitting .345. Winterstein has a .311 batting average, 52 hits, five doubles, two triples, five home runs and 29 RBI. Seth Miller, a two-time NSIC pitcher of the week in 2023, has amassed 62 strikeouts and has a record of 6-1. Caleb Saari also has recorded 62 strikeouts and has a 2.91 ERA, holding a record of 3-2 overall. Caleb Kranz has struck out 61 batters in 2023, has a 4-1 record and has spent 40.2 innings on the mound. Adam Diedrich leads the nation and Viking pitching staff with nine saves this season.
