No. 27 Augustana Women’s Tennis Set to Open Central Region Action Against Southeastern Oklahoma

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team is set to travel to Topeka, Kansas, to face Southeastern Oklahoma in the opening round of the NCAA Central Regional. The Vikings enter the central region as the No. 3 seed and will be facing No. 6 seed Southeastern Oklahoma on Monday at 2 p.m. The winner of Monday's game will face the No. 2 seed, and host, Washburn on Tuesday at 2 p.m. 

About the Savage Storm
Southeastern Oklahoma enters the central region with a 9-12 overall record and a 3-2 record in Great American Conference play. The Savage Storm is coming off a GAC Tournament victory where they defeated No. 49 Arkansas Tech, 4-3. The title was SE's second consecutive championship following their 2022 victory a year ago. 

The Savage Storm are on a five-match win streak with their last loss being a 4-3 drought to Southern Arkansas on April 12. The Storm closed out the regular season with a pair of wins and overall has won seven of its last nine matchups.

About the Vikings
No. 27 Augustana enters the central regional with a 20-3 overall record and an undefeated 14-0 record against NSIC opponents. The Vikings are coming off their 12th-consecutive NSIC tournament title following a 4-0 sweep of Minnesota State. Prior to the NSIC tournament, AU clinched its 13th-straight NSIC regular season title with it's 150th-straight NSIC match victory. 

The Vikings are on a five-match win streak and have won 12 of its last 13 contests. Leading the way for Augustana in singles action is Florentia Hadjigeorgiou. Hadjigeorgiou is ranked at No. 31 in the nation in singles action with a 16-3 record at No. 1 singles. In doubles play, Hadjigeorgiou is paired with Aleksandra Kistanova at the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair holds an undefeated 10-0 record in dual action. 

Gabriela Jancikova and Laura Arce Vieyra hold a 10-1 record in the No. 2 doubles spot. The pair are on a four-match win streak, winning nine of their last 10 matchups. Overall, the Vikings ended the NSIC season with a 29-3 doubles record and held a 59-2 record in singles play.

One Last Thing
This year's central regional has a similar look to the 2022 bracket. Augustana will see familiar faces as they battled against Southeastern Oklahoma and Washburn at the 2022 NCAA Central Regional in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a year ago.
