VERMILLION, S.D.-- Augustana outdoor track and field's Nyanas Kur broke the Augustana school record in the 200-meter dash at the USD Early Bird this weekend.
Nyanas Kur etched her name into the school record books this weekend following a record breaking performance in the 200 meter dash. Kur raced the 200 meter in a time of 23.59 claiming her a third place finish being the second division II finisher. The time places her third in the nation. Kur also raced in the 100 meter dash where she crossed the finish line in a time of 11.52 to take fifth place.
Joining Kur with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark is Elizabeth Schaefer who claimed a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles clocking in a time of 1:02.11 while also recording a personal best. Noa Marteau finished off the 400 meter hurdles racing in a time of 1:04.28 claiming an eighth place finish.
Kur was also a member of the 4x100 relay squad who placed third in a time of 47.55. The quartet of Kur, Lauren Merkley, Ella Heinitz and Lily Juhnke claimed the sixth place spot in the Augustana outdoor top-10 list with their performance.
Kylee Sallee collected a personal best 4,568 points in the heptathlon. Sallee earned a second place finish in the heptathlon 800 meter clocking in a time of 5.51. Sallee was the first finisher of division II competition in the event. Sallee was joined by Mackenzie Hemmer in the heptathlon, with Hemmer finishing 11th in the heptathlon with a score of 4,148.
The women's distance squad found its mark in the 1500 meter run. Patty Jo English claimed a third place finish with a time of 4:35.89. Caroline Sudbeck and Taylor Melton rounded out the top-10 in the event with Sudbeck claiming seventh place in a time of 4:41.84 and Melton running in ninth place with a time of 4:46.14.
Kaja Salemonsen and Connor Clayton had historic scores in the triple jump at this weekend's meet. Both Vikings recorded personal bests in the event with Salemonsen jumping a distance of 12.10 meters and Clayton recording a distance of 14.04. Claytons jump moves him up one spot to the fourth place spot in the Augustana top-10 while Salemonsen remains in second place.
Rounding out the action for Augustana was Patrick Vogel who placed 16th in the 5000 meter run claiming a time of 16:05.54.
