Five Earn NFCA All-Region Honors for Augustana Softball

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Augustana softball team had five members named to the NFCA All-Central Region Teams announced Wednesday. The five individuals tie for most in the country along with Colorado Christian, Grand Valley State, Central Oklahoma and UIndy.
 
Torri Chute, the NSIC Player of the Year, highlights the team teams while Delaney Young joined Chute on the First Team. On the second team, Gracey Brink, Kennedy Buckman and Andrea Cain represented AU.
 
Torri Chute | Designated Player
Chute, hailing from Woodbury, Minnesota, led Augustana with a .444 average while belting nine home runs and 19 doubles. Her average led the NSIC while her doubles rank her 11th in the country. In addition, she reached base in 52.6 percent of her at-bats, a figure that is 19th in the country.
 
Delaney Young | First Base
One of the hardest players to strikeout, the Cottage Grove, Minnesota, native batted .412 on the season with 18 doubles and eight home runs. For the season, she struck out just five times on the season. She concludes her career as Augustana's all-time fielding percentage leader with a .996 fielding percentage.
 
Gracey Brink | Catcher
Brink continued her dominance for Augustana with a .352 average, nine home runs and 10 doubles. In a statistic that one may not always want to be associated with, Brink ranks 25th in NCAA Division II with 12 hit by pitches. Hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, Brink recorded 58 hits on the season while holding a .600 slugging percentage.
 
Kennedy Buckman | Second Base
The New Prague, Minnesota, native simply led the NSIC in home runs with 20 while ranking third in NCAA Division II. She batted at a .346 clip while leading the NSIC with 62 RBI. The Vikings' second baseman also led the league with a .765 slugging percentage.
 
Andrea Cain | Outfield
Cain, a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, earned the NSIC Freshman of the Year honor after batting .351 with 14 doubles, six triples and nine home runs. With her 56 runs scored, she led the NSIC with 1.04 runs per game.
