Augustana T&F Wraps Up Final Day of NSIC Championships with One NSIC Champion and Six All-Conference Marks

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Augustana outdoor track & field closed out the NSIC portion of their season crowing one NSIC Champion and saw six NSIC All-Conference finishes on the final day of the NSIC Outdoor Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota, Saturday. 

Augustana saw a second place team finish with 95 points for the women, while the men saw a third place team finish with 88 points. Minnesota State swept both team titles with 207 points for the men and 272.4 points for the women. 

Ryan Hartman saw victory for the Vikings in the men's 5,000m run, being the first of four Vikings to cross the finish line. Hartman won the event and became the second individual from Augustana to be named an NSIC Champion this weekend. Hartman crossed the finish line in a time of 14:29.92 leading the pack of Vikings. Matt Steiger and Jesse Kaas followed in suit of Hartman, sweeping the podium with second and third place marks. Colten Brand followed in suit, as he ran in fourth place with a mark of 14:35.43. 

Patty Jo English was the first from Augustana to claim an all-conference mark on the final day. English secured a third place finish in the 1,500m run, claiming a 4:27.76 finish. Colten Brand was the second Viking to claim an all-conference finish, mirroring English with a third place finish in the men's 1,500m. 

Making her mark in the women's 400m hurdles was Elizabeth Schaefer who garnered a bronze finish in a time of 1:01.03. Nyanas Kur joined Schaefer with a bronze finish, seeing her mark in the women's 200m dash. Kur clocked a time of 23.92. 

Across both days, Augustana named two NSIC Champions and collected 10 NSIC All-Conference finishes. 

"The NSIC Championships are always a battle and I was proud of the resilience of both teams and how we competed," said Hellman. "We now turn our sights to the NCAA Championships in two weeks. As always, it's a great day to be a Viking!"
