SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The NSIC Champion Augustana baseball team is ranked sixth in the first official NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings. The Vikings are one of two NSIC teams in the top-10 rankings.

Augustana is in the rankings with a 37-16 overall record while sitting at 34-12 against Central Region foes. Augustana is back in action as the No. 1 seed in the NSIC Tournament in Bismarck, North Dakota, beginning Wednesday, May 10. The Vikings will play the No. 8 seed which will be determined after the final slate of regular season games are played this weekend.

The 39-team NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The championship preliminary round competition provides for 16 regional sites that consists of 4-teams, double-elimination tournaments. The winners of these regional-round competitions advance to a super-regional round that consist of two teams competing in a best-of-three series.
