Martens Breaks School Record in 110-Meter Hurdles

MANKATO, Minn. – Augustana outdoor track & field's Andrew Martens broke the Augustana school record in the 110m hurdles at the Maverick Open #1 in Mankato, Minnesota, Wednesday. In addition to his record breaking performance, Martens garnered the 400m hurdles title in addition to the 110m hurdles title while being one of five Vikings to collect an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. 

Martens won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.04 shaving off a near .6 seconds from his previous best time while claiming the Augustana school record. Martens tied the school record of 14.20 seconds in the preliminary round and then shaved off .16 seconds to garner the program's best performance in school history. Martens' time garners him an NCAA provisional qualifying mark while landing him at the 12th fastest time in Division II so far this season. Tyler Sellin also had a stand out performance in the 110m hurdles, seeing a new personal best in the event with a time of 15.41. 

Martens continued his successful day in the men's 400m hurdles by winning the event with a time of 53.48. He collected a personal best in the event while claiming another NCAA provisional qualifying mark. His time grants him the number nine spot in the Augustana top-10 list. 

Nick Larson won the 3000m steeplechase, shattering his previous best mark by 5.65 second to claim a time of 9:36.06. Benjamin Haberman, Isaac Fink and Caden Tegethoff claimed second, fourth and seventh place finishes. Haberman clocked a time of 9:40.54, while Fink collected a personal best time of 9:51.93 and Tegethoff a personal best time of 10:07.24. 

Nyanas Kur claimed a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 100m dash with a time of 11.61 to finish runner up in the event. Lily Juhnke also garnered a personal best in the event, claiming a third place finish with a time of 12.02. 

In the women's 200m dash, Juhnke claimed a new personal best with a mark of 25.32 while garnering a sixth place finish. Kylee Sallee also garnered a personal best running in a time of 26.15. Katie Wentzy rounded out the personal best performances in the 200m, clocking in a new personal best mark with a time of 27.36. 

Elizabeth Schaefer shaved nearly .2 seconds off her previous mark in the 100m hurdles to garner a new personal best mark with a time of 14.60. 

Trent DeCook clocked in a personal best in the 100m dash, he shaved off .03 seconds from his previous best mark with a final time of 11.26. Eli Oxner made his collegiate debut in the event clocking in a time of 11.38. 

In the men's 400m dash, Jed Dooyeman tied his personal best with a time of 49.81. For the women, Katie Wentzy also collected a personal best mark, defeating her previous mark by .21 of a second with a finishing time of 1:01.32. 

Elizabeth Schaefer continued to see high marks in the 400m hurdles. Schaefer garnered an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a time of 1:01.73 to take third place. In addition, Anna Langseth recorded a personal best in the event with a time of 1:06.49, shaving .47 of a second off her previous best. 

Joining in on the personal best affair, was Jonah Breuer, Ethan Boyens, Ryan Schroeder and Caden Tegethoff. The four men all shaved off time from their previous performances in the 800m dash. For the women's 800m dash, Tenley Nelson claimed a new personal best surpassing her previous time by nearly two seconds. 

Alex Otten found strong strides in the men's 1500m run, seeing a new personal best with a time of 4:04.20 knocking 4.60 seconds off of his previous best. Parker Fitzgerald, joined Otten by claiming his own personal best with a new mark of 4:08.03. 

Field Events
Bryn Greenwaldt clinched a sixth place finish in the women's high jump, tying her personal best with a height of 1.62m. Ava Brogen surpassed her previous best height by .02m to claim a new personal best of 1.52m. 

In the women's javelin throw, the Vikings saw three individuals throw personal best marks. Kylee Sallee landed a fourth place finish with a personal best throw of 35.26m. Mackenzie Hemmer took a sixth place finish with an additional personal best finish with a distance of 34.09m. Jayda Becker smashed her previous best by throwing a distance of 23.96m. 

Sallee and Hemmer continued their strong performance in the women's long jump. The duo both claimed NCAA provisional qualifying marks, with Sallee jumping a distance of 5.98m and Hemmer a distance of 5.89m. 

Capping off field events for the Vikings, was Kaja Salemonsen in the women's triple jump. Salemonsen collected a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a distance of 12.09m.
