Klitzke & Steiger Named to CSC Academic All-America Second Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana track & field's Henry Klitzke and Matt Steiger have been named to the 2022-23 CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Teams announced Thursday. The pair both earn CSC Academic All-America Second Team honors following their prolific season in track & field and cross country in 2022-23. 

Klitzke, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native, saw great strides in his senior campaign winning both the 3,000m and 5,000m at the NSIC Indoor Championships. Kltizke was named the NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year while earning the High Point Scorer award prior to being named the Preseason NSIC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Klitzke saw success both on the track and in the classroom garnering a 3.88 GPA while studying business administration at Augustana. 

Steiger, hailing from La Crescent, Minnesota, made his mark on the 2022-23 season being crowned the NSIC Cross Country Individual Champion while leading the Vikings to win the NSIC Championship. He saw great strides on the regional and national course, seeing a seventh place finish at the NCAA Central Regional followed by a 45th place finish on the national course. Stegier continued his success into the track & field season winning the 10,000m at the NSIC Outdoor Championships while also earning NSIC 5,000m All-Conference honors. Steiger held a 4.00 GPA while studying accounting management at Augustana.
