SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Both nationally-ranked Augustana cross country teams are set to head north, traveling to Minot, N.D., for the NSIC Championships, hosted by Minot State, on Saturday. The men's 8,000-meter race will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the women's 6,000-meter race at noon.

The Augustana women enter the race standing at No. 8 in the national polls while the men hold the No. 24 spot. The women are looking for their third title in the past four seasons and tenth conference championship overall, while the men look for their fifth consecutive title and their 14th conference championship in the past 15 seasons.Â

The No. 8 nationally-ranked women of Augustana's last competition came in the Lewis Crossover on Oct. 12, placing fourth with 188 points. In the Crossover,
Ella Bakken paced the team with a 21:23.00 finish to place 12th.
Ashley Overgaauw also saw success, placing 16th with a time of 21:35.81.
Eleni Lovgren turned in a personal best with a time of 21:47.57.
Lindsey Young closed the race in 22:33.73 to place 69th and
Taylor Melton rounded out the top-five Vikings in 77th place after finishing in 22:38.06.
The No. 24 nationally-ranked men of Augustana placed ninth in the Lewis Crossover behind an individual victory from
Ryan Hartman. Hartman has been incredible this season, winning two of his three competitions while placing second in his other run. He has been named USTFCCCA DII National Athlete of the Week following both victories and has earned NSIC weekly honors after all three of his performances.Â
Also on the men's side at Lewis,
Brady Hogan earned a personal best after finishing in 24:46.34, good enough for 49th place. Close behind him was
Kadin Groen, whose 24:49.28 was also a personal best.
Evan Myran slotted in as the fourth fastest Viking with a 25:14.51 to place 98th and
Daniel Street finished 110th with a time of 25:17.98.

The next action for Vikings following the NSIC Championships will be the NCAA Central Regional in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, also in Sacramento, Calif.
