NEW ORLEANS -- Following a tremendous performance this fall, the Augustana cross country squad saw 11 student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team and individual honors announced on Feb. 1. Both programs were also named as USTFCCCA All-Academic teams.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
The women's team collected six all-academic athletes in
Ella Bakken (Biology),
Ana McCabe (Journalism),
Tenley Nelson (Education),
Amanda Overgaauw (Undeclared),
Ashley Overgaauw (Biology)
Aubrey Surage (Biology) and
Laura Thompson (Education).
As a team, the women compiled a 3.84 GPA, which stands tied for second-best in the nation.
The men's team garnered five all-academic selections in
Colten Brand (Exercise Science),
Erik Gundersen (Business Administration),
Ryan Hartman (Exercise Science),
Brady Hogan (Communication Studies)
The men's team compiled a team GPA of 3.62, ranking eighth in all of Division II.
The Augustana cross country team recently finished another very impressive season under Director of Track & Field,
Tracy Hellman. The women's team placed seventh at the national meet, while a pair of runners qualified as All-Americans in Audrey Surage and
Ryan Hartman.
