SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana wrestling team (13-5 overall, 7-1 NSIC) earned six victories, including five with bonus points, to knock off Minnesota State (5-5, 2-4) 28-15 on Saturday afternoon inside the Elmen Center.

The Vikings opened the afternoon with bonus points in four straight matches. It all started with Jaxson Rohman at 125 pounds. Rohman kicked it off with a takedown and four nearfall points. After allowing an escape, he recorded another takedown before securing a first period pin to give AU a 6-0 lead. 

At 133, Jack Huffman opened with a pair of takedowns to take a 6-1 lead into the second period. Huffman would go on to collect an escape and a pair of takedowns to close out a major decision and increase the Viking lead to 10-0. 

Hunter Burnett was dominant at 141, recording an early takedown and never held back. He went on to collect four nearfall points at three separate times to close out the tech fall and shutout victory.

The Burnett win gave AU a 15-0 advantage, and Cael Larson refused to miss out on the fun at 149. Larson earned four first period takedowns and added two more in the second period. Leading by 13 into the third period, he closed the bout with a reversal to finish off the tech fall and put the Vikings in front 20-0. 

Continuing the AU win streak was Connor Simmonds at 157 pounds. Simmonds led 3-2 into the second period after an early takedown. Simmonds fell behind 4-3 after the second, but came through with a takedown and riding point late to secure a decision and give the Vikings a 23-0 lead into the intermission. 

After three consecutive losses, Max Ramberg was able to halt the Maverick momentum in dominant fashion at 197 pounds. Ramberg picked up three takedowns, four nearfall points, and an escape while adding a riding time after over four minutes on top to tack on five more to the AU lead.
