SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Two NSIC records, three school records and a trio of NSIC Championships ballooned Augustana's lead in the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships Friday. The Vikings had a strong day in the pool, creating a separation of 25.5 points over second-place Minnesota State.

Bryn Greenwaldt was part of both NSIC records as she blazed through the pool in the 100 backstroke in a time of 53.52. She topped the previous school record by .28 of a second while topping her previous school record by nearly two seconds. In the same event,
Ella Ward-Zeller placed eighth in 57.99.

The B Final of the 100 backstroke saw
Nathalia Silva touch the wall in 57.81 in ninth place and
Gracin Larson total seven points in 10
th place in a time of 58.08.

The second NSIC record to fall was the 200 free relay consisting of Greenwaldt,
Angelina Chan,
Makoa Montgomery and Messha Montgomery. The quartet knocked 1.5 seconds off the NSIC record while setting a new school record in 1:31.69. The four swimmers also easily surpassed the NCAA qualifying time while winning by almost three seconds.

Nesrine Jelliti claimed the Gold medal in the 100 breaststroke as she and teammate, Chan, hit NCAA 'B' qualifying marks. Jelliti won in a time of 1:02.78 to win. Chan hit the wall second in a time of 1:03.71.

In the B Final,
Anna Tindall clocked in 10
th fastest in 1:05.93 while
Ava Brogren timed in at 1:06.64 for 14
th. The event proved to be plentiful in points for AU with
Lara Carnier Matuck placing 16
th in 1:07.87.

The 500 free saw
Maija Kangas earn all-conference accolades in an NCAA 'B' standard time of 5:03.88.

Earlier in the evening, Kangas was awarded the NSIC Elite 18 Award for holding the league's top GPA while competing in the championship meet.

Leona Coha garnered 12 points for the Vikings in the 200 fly as she placed seventh in 2:09.65. In the B Final,
Anna Schmidt timed in at 2:14.97 for 11
th place.

The final day of competition is slated for Saturday with prelims at 10 a.m., 1M diving at 1 p.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. A win would give the Vikings back-to-back NSIC Championships in just their eighth year of existence.
