Viking Hockey Hosts Nanooks in Programs First Rematch in its Inaugural Season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey (12-17-3) hosts Alaska Fairbanks in its first-ever rematch in its inaugural season presented by presented by First PREMIER Bank / PREMIER Bankcard.

The Friday and Saturday series is set for 7:07 p.m. and 6:07 p.m. inside Midco Arena. Both games will be streamed on FloHockey. 

The Nanooks
Alaska Fairbanks (14-14-2) flys into Sioux Falls after splitting at home against Arizona State, winning Friday, Feb. 23 by a score of 3-1 and then falling Saturday, Feb. 24 by a score of 4-3 in overtime. 

Brady Risk leads the Nanooks with a team-high 29 points by way of 11 goals and 18 assists through 28 games. Risk, a junior forward from Medicine Hat, Alberta has tallied 76 career points through three seasons. 

The Nanooks are currently 11th in the nation in faceoff percentage, winning .535 percent of their draws. 

The Vikings 
Augustana is coming off a series split with Alaska Anchorage, dropping Friday, Feb. 23 game by a score 6-5 in overtime. The Vikings bounced back in Saturday, Feb. 24 game as they won by a score of 3-0 backed by three third-period goals. 

The Vikings will honor six student-athletes in Saturday's game. Arnaud Vachon, Anthony Stark, Chase Brand, Ryan Naumovski, Shay Donovan, and Zack Rose will be the first Viking hockey players to graduate from the program.

Sophomore defenseman Will Svenddal collected his first points of the season in Friday and Saturday's games against Alaska Anchorage.

One Last Thing 
Augustana is ranked second amongst CCHA conference teams in penalty kill percentage of .827. LSSU edges out the Vikings with a penalty kill percentage of .841.
