NCAA Championships Await No. 13 Women’s Swimming & Diving

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's swimming & diving team opens the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships Tuesday in Geneva, Ohio. The Vikings, ranked No. 13 in the latest CSCAA poll, have three individual swimmers, a diver and four relays in Ohio for competition.
 
Action gets underway each day with prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 4:30 p.m. Complete action can be followed on GoAugie.com/Live and the GoAugie app, presented by The Original Pancake House. The app can be downloaded in the App Store or Google Play. 
 
Bryn Greenwaldt has qualified for three individual events wile Nesrine Jelliti and Meesha Montgomery are in an individual swim each. Avery Lommel will begin her quest at the championships in the diving pre-qualification event taking place Tuesday.
 
Greenwaldt is back at the national meet after a stellar freshman campaign saw her finish as the national runner-up in the 50 free. Along with the 50 free, the two-time NSIC Swimmer of the Year will also swim in the 100 free and 100 back. She currently seeded fourth in the 50 free, 11th in the 100 free and second in the 100 back.
 
Jelliti, a junior, is seeded ninth in the 100 breaststroke while Montgomery is 14th in the 100 free. Montgomery, who also hit the qualifying mark in two other events, will see action in the 50 free and 200 free. 
 
The four relay teams in the meet are the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 400 free. The 200 free relay consists of Angelina Chan, Makoa Montgomery, Meesha Montgomery and Bryn Greenwaldt while holding the nation's third-fastest time.
 
The 200 medley is the quartet of Chan, Greenwaldt, Jelliti and Ma. Montgomery holds the nation's fourth-quickest time.
 
In the 400 free, Amaya Street joins Greenwaldt, Me. Montgomery and Ma. Montgomery with the ninth-quickest time in NCAA Division II.
 
The 400 medley relay will see Greenwaldt, Me. Montgomery, Jelliti and Chan team up as the Vikings enter seeded 11th in the event.
 
Lommel, the first-ever diver to enter the national scene for Augustana, enters with the 17th-highest point total on the 1M, 11 dives. When raising the board to 3M, the NSIC Diver of the Year is 12th with 454.75 points.
