GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Augustana men's golf team got its spring portion of the 2023-24 season underway with a seventh-place finish at the Minnesota State Desert Classic taking place Monday and Tuesday. Jacob Stewart was the top Viking as he finished 3-over-par after an even-par 72 in the opening round Monday.

How It Happened

• Stewart was 3-over-par for the tournament after rounds of 72 and 75. He tallied 147 total strokes as part of his 15^th place finish.
• Will Allen, who placed tied for 19th at 5-over par, ranked second in the field with six birdies.
• Emmet Hansen tied for 38^th after rounds of 76 and 77.
• Cullen Johnson was sixth in the field with his 12 pars throughout the par 72 course. He placed in a tie with teammate Zachary Stanz as the duo was 10-over-par with 154 strokes.
• Four other Vikings participated in the event with Jimmy Mendel totaling 159 shots, Spencer Wittstruck with 160 strokes, Jordan Slagle with 161 shots and Chase McDonald with 172 shots.
