SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana men's and women's tennis kick off its fall season as it's set to host four programs this Saturday, Sept. 7 at Tomar Park in the Viking Invite.
Viking Women
Fresh off winning its 13th-consecutive NSIC Championship, Augustana women's tennis is set to host Northwest Missouri and Sioux Falls in the Viking Invite.
 AU returned four Vikings from the 2023-24 championship team while adding four new Vikings. Returning Vikings,
Gabriela Jancikova,
Mia Garcia,
Smilte Bakyte and
Simone Karaouza all earned NSIC honors last season.Â
Head coach
Marc Kurtz added two strong transfers in the portal with
Nicole Dufour from Saint Leo University and
Chelsea Seidewitz from Francis Marion while adding two freshmen in
Martina Sfilio and
Fernanda Sandoval.Â
Following the Viking Invite, AU will host the Augustana Invite involving an eight-team field before heading to ITA Regionals in mid-September for the ITA Regionals. Augustana will finish off the Fall season with an exhibition against St. Thomas on Oct. 19.Â
Viking Men
The Augustana men's team returns eight Vikings to the court while adding two new athletes.
Conrad Koch transferred into Augustana from Merrimack College and Sioux Falls local
Drew Gohl will make his college debut after graduating from Lincoln High School.Â
Henry Dornbusch returns for his senior season after playing from the No. 1 singles slot last season. Dornbush finished with an 11-4 singles record and had a conference record of 4-1. The Stapelmoor, Germany native was named to the MIAA/GAC Academic Honor Roll, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and was named an MIAA Player of the Week last season.Â
Augustana will host Northwest Missouri and Northwestern in the Viking Invite and will also take part in the Augustana Invitational on Sept. 14-15 against Gustavus, Morningside and Mount Marty. The Vikings will finish out the Fall season with the ITA Regionals at the end of September.Â
