Augustana Track Returns to Action at Mount Marty Invitational

1/17/2025 5:10:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Mount Marty Invitational this weekend with action on Saturday starting with combined events at 10 a.m., followed by field events jumping off to a start at 12 p.m. and running events at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vikings started their season off strong on December 6 at the SDSU Holiday Classic and on December 7 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener with several key performances.

Ryan Hartman rewrote history once again in Boston, breaking his own South Dakota collegiate record in the 5k with a time of 13:46.54. The mark is a provisional qualifying time, a new personal best by over seven seconds and was good enough for 70th place out of over 200 athletes.

Andrew Martens proved why he was announced as a NSIC Preseason Athlete to Watch for the Vikings. He claimed an event title in the men's 60-meter hurdle clocking in at 7.89.

Nyanas Kur also had a day for herself. She placed third in the women's 300-meter dash, not only running her personal best of 39.74, but also setting a new school record by over a second.

Trent DeCook looks to take the top spot in Augustana history this weekend after putting himself in the second spot all-time for the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.68.

Maia Peterson captured the title of the women's pentathlon while also scoring a new personal best with a score of 3610 points. That total put her in the fourth spot in the Augustana history books.

UP NEXT
Looking ahead to the following weekend, the Vikings will compete in Brookings, S.D. at the Jim Emmerich Invitational on Saturday, January 25.
