BROOKINGS, S.D. – Augustana track and field collected 11 top-five finishes—including two individual event titles and two school records—along with provisional-qualifying marks during a strong day of competition at the Jim Emmerich Invitational.
Andrew Martens sped to victory in the men's 60-meter hurdles in a stunning 7.89 seconds, tying his season best, which is currently third in NCAA Division II this season.
Maria Pedroso clocked a 9.11 for seventh place finish in the women's 60-meter hurdles while
Lily Juhnke claimed fourth place in the finals of the 60-meter dash in 7.71 seconds.
Trent DeCook was ninth in the men's 200-meter dash in 22.46 seconds, while on the women's side,
Nyanas Kur clocked a provisional time in the 200-meter in 24.58 seconds for fourth place. Kur also clocked a new 400-meter dash personal best in a sizzling 55.30 seconds to break the school record, clock a provisional time and take second in the event.
Ella Heinitz also took eighth in the event with a 57.85.
Jude Jarding and
Ethan Boyens each placed top-five in the men's 600-meter run, taking second in 1:22.17 and fourth in 1:23.38, respectively, while
Sydnee Serck was fifth in the women's 800-meter run in 2:18.47.
Ryan Hartman was champion of the 1000-meter run with a school record time of 2:23.36 as
Tyson Ricker (2:27.72, seventh, eighth all-time) and
Alex Otten (2:28.92, eighth) also clocked new personal bests.
Caroline Sudbeck was seventh in the event on the women's side, clocking a 3:00.79, as
Tenley Nelson was 10
th with a personal best of 3:03.91.
In the women's high jump, Pedroso cleared 5-03.00 for fourth while
Kylee Sallee came ninth with a 5-03.00.
Jayda Becker finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17-06.00 while over in the triple jump,
Mackenzie Hemmer (35-07.25) was fourth,
Nyamal Changson (35-02.50) was seventh and
Ashton Massey (34-10.50, PR) was ninth.

Augustana track and field will again journey north to Brookings to compete in the two-day SDSU Open on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
