NEW ORLEANS – Following a school record-breaking performance on the track,
Ryan Hartman is gaining national praise by being named the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II National Athlete of the Week.
The senior from Wausau, Wis., claimed first place in the 1000-meter run at the Jim Emmerich Invitational with a speedy new personal-best time of 2:23.36. The closely-contested race helped push him to a finish that sits second on the NCAA DII all-conditions list while also breaking the Augustana school record in the event by over two seconds.
Hartman is the first Viking in program history to have been named a men's or women's USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week honor during the indoor season.
