SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The No. 11 Augustana wrestling team won six of 10 matches, including a pair of ranked wins, to knock off No. 12 Minnesota State 23-14 on Saturday afternoon inside the Elmen Center.

Starting at 174 pounds, Coy Gunderson provided early fireworks to set the tone. With the score tied 1-1 in the late stages of the third period, Gunderson got behind No. 3-ranked Drake Hayward in the final 10 seconds for a takedown to secure a top-three victory and decision to give AU a 3-0 lead. 

At 184 pounds, Owen Wasley had a scoreless tie into the third period. He ended up victorious after an escape and takedown to build the lead up to 6-0 AU. In just 2:09 at 197 pounds, Max Ramberg buried Grant Cook for a pin to double the lead at 12-0 through three bouts. 

Jaret Peterson continued the winning stretch at 285 pounds. After recording an escape and takedown in the second period, Peterson tallied a pair of third period takedowns and riding point to earn an 11-1 major decision and stretch the lead to 16-0. 

After a pair of MSU wins, Luke Koenen got the Vikings back on the board. After a scoreless first period, Koenen earned an escape and takedown before a stall point to put him ahead 5-1. He put the finishing touches on it in the third, picking up a pair of takedowns and riding point to close out a major decision. 

Nolan Ambrose secured the victory at 149 pounds. After getting called for a pair of stalls in the second period put him behind 1-0, Ambrose came out on top with a reversal and riding point in the third period. 

The Vikings will return to the mat Friday, heading up I-29 to take on MSU Moorhead.
