Five Men's Swimming & Diving Records Fall in First Day of the GLIAC Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Augustana men's swimming and diving team opened action at the GLIAC Championships Wednesday, breaking records in all five events that were held. 
 
The Vikings bookended the day with records in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Jackson Dircks, Mason Kauffeld, Pedro Borin and Peyton Bartsch swam to a 1:29.19 finish to claim the top spot in program history and place seventh. To end the night, Bartsch and Borin were joined by Isaac Rokusek and Collin Wilcynski for a fifth place-finish and school record in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:21.88.
 
In the final individual event of the night, Bartsch swam in the B Final of the 50-free, clocking in at 20.50, garnering points for AU in 11th position. The time was a program record and was within .04 seconds of a qualification time. 
 
Aidan McCusker earned a point in the 1000 free, breaking his own program record with a time of 9:35.57. In the prelims Wednesday morning, Rokusek finished 17th in the 200 IM, breaking a program record with a time of 1:52.40.
 
The team is back in action Thursday, Friday and Saturday with prelims starting at 9 a.m. each day. The finals each night begin at 4:30 p.m. in Holland, Michigan.
