INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the lone event for Augustana track and field on day two, Andrew Martens booked a trip to the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
 
His qualification clocking comes a season after narrowly missing the final last year, where he finished ninth overall in the field.
 
Placed in the third and final heat of the prelims, Martens was unphased by an initial false start from an opponent, sprinting across the finish line in 7.89 seconds. He took third in the heat, missing the automatic bid, but clocked the fifth-fastest time in the field to qualify.
 
Andrew will now compete in the finals field of eight at 1:30 p.m. CT. He'll be joined in Saturday action by Ryan Hartman, who will run in the mile finals at 2:25 p.m. CT and the 3000-meter at 4 p.m. CT, and Bryn Greenwaldt, who is set for the women's high jump at 2:55 p.m. CT.
