Hines Named to NCBWA All-America First Team

DALLAS, Texas – Augustana's Jack Hines was named to the NCBWA All-America First Team for the second consecutive season, announced by the NCBWA National Committee on Thursday afternoon.

Hines joins Patrick O'Donnell (2016, 2017) as the only two players in program history to be named to the NCBWA All-America Team in consecutive seasons and the only athlete to be a two-time first team honoree. 

Hailing from Lombard, Illinois, the 2024 National Player of the Year put a bow on a standout career, batting .441 with 89 hits, seven home runs, 64 RBI, 56 runs scored, 127 total bases, a .502 on-base percentage and a 1.131 OPS. 
 
In his four-year Viking career, Hines left his mark. He is the all-time leader in triples (16), RBI (235), total bases (541)  and times hit by pitch (52), tied for first in runs scored (234) and sac flies (17), second in hits (326), third in batting average (.400), games played (227), games started (222) and home runs (44), fourth in on-base percentage (.475), and fifth in slugging percentage (.665), doubles (51) and in stolen bases (73).
 
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport; Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy (Player of the Year), Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting; The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-American awards, publication and writing contests.
