SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The No. 13 Augustana wrestling team earned a 17-15 win over No. 2 (DIII) Augsburg on Friday afternoon in the Elmen Center. The Vikings earned five wins, including two bonus point victories, to knock off the Auggies. 

Christian Olsen opened the Viking victories at 125 pounds. Olsen recorded a takedown before falling behind 4-3 into the third period. He opened the third with a reversal to take a lead and, after an escape, recorded a match-sealing takedown to put the Vikings in front. 

After a pair of Augsburg wins gave them the lead, Nolan Ambrose got AU back on track. He earned a takedown and a pair of nearfall points to take a 5-1 lead. That lead grew to 8-3 after two periods. In the third, Ambrose recorded a reversal and added a riding point to finish off an 11-5 decision and make it 6-6 through four matches. 

Payton Handevidt earned a win at 165 to retie the match at 9-9. Handevidt recorded a pair of takedowns, one in the first period and one in the third, while holding off a late rally to earn a 6-4 decision. 

Coy Gunderson earned a major decision at 174 pounds to keep the success rolling. He recorded a takedown in each period and an escape in the second to close out a 10-2 win and put the Vikings in the lead 13-9. 

At 197 pounds, Max Ramberg added a dominant performance to conclude the Viking wins. After a scoreless first, Ramberg got a pair of takedowns and an escape to lead 7-1 through two periods. In the third, He was able to add a takedown, stall point and riding point to finish out a 12-2 win. 

The Vikings return to the mat next weekend, heading to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the NWCA Duals starting on Jan. 9.
