FB Notes: Augustana Faces Northern State in Regular Season Finale

Augustana (7-3, 6-3 NSIC) concludes the regular season on Saturday as the Vikings play host to in-state rival Northern State (2-8, 2-7 NSIC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.

Augustana is still in the hunt for a berth in the Mineral Water Bowl. The top team from the NSIC that does not advance to the NCAA?Division II?playoffs represents the NSIC?in the Mineral Water Bowl against a team from the MIAA. Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Vikings are in a five-way tie for third place in the league standings.

MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY: Saturday is also Military Appreciation Day at the football game. All veterans and those currently serving in the military can receive up to 4 free tickets by showing their military ID card at the ticket window. Several events are planned to recognize the members of the military, including a pre-game flyover.

SENIOR DAY: Saturday is the final regular season game for 14 Viking seniors, including Mark Malangko, Nick Weber, Joe Klumper, Luke Butler, Mike Vanasek, Josh Niedenfuer, Brandon McMichael, Andrew Phillips, Chris Isaacson, Jim Pawelec, Clinton Berentschot, Nick Kaufman, Jesse Jones and Kevin Knapp.

TICKETS: Advance tickets for Saturday's game may be purchased online at www.augietickets.com. General admission tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets purchased online may be picked up at Will Call. Online sales will stop at noon on Friday. The stadium ticket booths will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday with gates opening at noon.

RADIO: All Viking football games can be heard on KIKN Radio (FM-100.5). The game can also be heard on the internet at: www.kikn.com. Veteran broadcaster Jeff Fylling will call all of the action, while John Schultz, a former All-NCC quarterback with the Vikings, provides color commentary. The broadcast begins with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

WEBCAST INFORMATION: All 11 of Augustana's football games this season will be webcast on the internet as part of the NSIC's television agreement with Penn Atlantic TV. Fans wanting to follow the action can go to the following link: http://www.northernsun.tv. The service is free, but fans will need to set up an account with Penn Atlantic.

AUGUSTANA SPORTSCENE: Augustana Sportscene is in its sixth season on UTV cable channel 10 in Sioux Falls. The 30-minute weekly television show airs Saturdays at noon and select Sundays at 10:30 p.m. Augustana Sportscene, hosted by Viking director of athletics Bill Gross, is available in 152 communities in eastern South Dakota, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.

COACHES SHOW: Fans can follow Viking football by listening to the Augustana Coaches Show on ESPN Radio 99.1 FM. Jeff Fylling, Viking head coach Brad Salem and other Augustana coaches will sit down each Monday at 5 p.m. to discuss all of the happenings within Augustana Athletics. Fans can also catch the show live at Champps, located in the Western Mall in Sioux Falls.
