SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -  The Augustana women's basketball team came out victorious Monday night in their lone exhibition game of the 2015-16 season, defeating St. Olaf College, 84-29.

The Vikings got on the board early thanks in part to a jumper from Sophie Kenney that would set-up an impressive night from the field for the Vikings. Augustana shot 51 percent from the field (19-37) in the first half, and 45 percent for the game (33-73).

Augustana used a 13-0 run in the first quarter to pull away from the Oles. The run was set-up by a great defensive play by Hayley McCarron, who had the lone Vikings block of the evening. Sophie Kenney then found Sydney Rome on the left wing for one of her three, 3-pointers of the night.

The scoring was spread around evenly against St. Olaf as five different Vikings scored in double-digits. Sophomore guard Allie Koehn led the way for Augustana with game-high 17 points, behind a 5-7 shooting night from behind the arc. Nicole Kerkhoff had 13 points followed by Logan O'Farrell (12), Rome (11) and Lynsey Prosser (10).

Kenney had her fingerprint on much of the Vikings success tonight scoring seven-points. The senior took care of the ball, only committing one turnover while dishing out seven assists.

Augustana gave up 10-points to the Oles in the first quarter before locking down defensively in the remaining three quarters, holding St. Olaf to single digit scoring the rest of the way. Augustana picked up 18 steals and 31 defensive rebounds. They had 40 total rebounds for the night.

Augustana will open the 2015-16 season Nov. 13 when the take on Northwest Missouri State at the University of Sioux Falls. The game set to begin at 6 p.m.
