INDIANAPOLIS – The Augustana women's basketball ranked 10th in the first edition of the 2015 NCAA Central Region rankings in a release by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The Vikings are one of four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams in the rankings, joining third-ranked Wayne State, seventh-ranked Minnesota State, and eighth-ranked Northern State.
The NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), the Great American Conference (GAC), and the NSIC. The NCAA Selection Show will be aired on Sunday, March 8 at 9 p.m. CT.
Fort Hays State sits atop rankings at No. 1 spot, followed by Pittsburg State at two, Wayne State at three, Emporia State in fourth, and Arkansas Tech fifth to round out the top five.
The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Augustana closes up the regular season on the road this upcoming weekend. First up, a game with Upper Iowa on Friday at 6 p.m. The Vikings meet up with Winona State in the regular season finale on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
