MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Augustana Track & Field returned this weekend with strong performances at the Jack Johnson Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota and The Wildcat Open hosted by Wayne State College.
At the Jack Johnson Invitational,
Ryan Heuer finished second in the men's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.11. The time was a personal best for Heuer and .03 seconds shy of breaking the school record. This was also an NCAA provisional qualifier time.
Justin Greenway finished in fourth in the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 6.95, .01 seconds off of Greenway's personal best.
Leah Seivert finished in fifth in the women's 3000 meters with a time of 9:57.07. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier.
Zach Tuschen ran a time of 1:56.92 in the men's 800 meter dash which is good for fifth place.
Irene Almarcha finished in sixth in the women's 60m dash crossing the line with a time of 8.87.
Ida Eltervaag finished in seventh in the women's 800 meter dash with a time of 2:16.70. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of
Valerie Moos, Charissa Ethriem,
Carina Hofmeister and
Brooke DeVos finished in eight with a time of 3:55.01, with a conversion to 3:51 which is an NCAA provisional qulaifier.
"It was a positive meet for both teams at the Jack Johnson Invitational," head coach
Tracy Hellman said. "We have been focusing on improvement and it happened today. Although we still have ways to go, there was great improvement with both teams."
At the Wildcat Open,
Kaylynn Erlandson broke the school record in the women's triple jump with a jump of of 11.52 meters (37 Feet, 9.5 inches) breaking the previous mark of 11.50 meters set by Erlandson last year.
Coley Stoller finished in second with a jump of 11.39 meters (37 feet 4.5 inches).
Calliann Brunswig took home first in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5.25 inches).The jump was an NCAA provisional qulaifier. Brunswig also took first in the women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.02. Both were personal best for Brunswig.
Alaina Klapperich took first in the women's 60 meter dash with a time 7.98.
Austin Krohnke took first in the men's 1000 meters with a time of 2:38.45, Krohnke led from wire to wire during the event.
Melissa Barella came in first in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters (four feet, nine inches).
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Jesu Urtusuastegui,
Nathan Schroeder,
Dylon Van't Hof and
Paul Meloche finished in first with a time of 3:42.40.
Four Vikings finished 2-5 in the women's 400 meter dash
Emily Delzer came in second with a time of 1:04.10,
Lily Noble finished in third crossing the line at 1:05.52,
Ashley Solano came in fourth with a time of 1:05.52 and
Meydee Okello came in fifth with a time of 1:16.20.
Tanner Schulte came in second in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.85 meters (six feet).
"We saw a handful of personal record today at the Wildcat Open," assistant coach
Greg Binstock said. "It's going to be nice at our conference championship venue next weekend as we look for more improvement in Mankato."
Augustana will travel to Mankato, Minn. next weekend to compete in the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato.
