No. 3 seed Women's basketball set to take on No. 2 seed MSU Moorhead in NSIC Tournament quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana University women's basketball team will take on MSU Moorhead in the quarterfinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health women's basketball tournament Sunday, Feb. 28. The South Division No. 3 Vikings and North Division No. 2 MSU Moorhead will tip-off at 8 p.m. in the Sanford Pentagon.

AUGUSTANA AT A GLANCE
• The Vikings enter the 2nd Rd of the 2016 NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball tournament as the No. 3 seed in the South Division and will face off with North Division No. 2 seed MSU Moorhead
• This will be the second time this season that Augustana and MSU Moorhead have played. It is the first time they have played twice in a season since 2014
• The two teams have split the last four meeting but MSUM has won 2 of the last 3 games played in Sioux Falls. Augie has an 8-3 all-time advantage though when playing in Sioux Falls
• Last time these two teams played 4 different Vikings scored in double-figures and they also forced 16 Dragon turnovers
• Augustana has won 8 of their last 10 games. They had their four game winning streak snapped on Saturday Feb. 20 by #10 Winona State
• The Vikings have not lost two consecutive games this year. This is the first Vikings team to go through a season never losing two games in a row since the 1973-74 team that only played 9 games
• The Vikings are 15-3 this season when they get at least 10 steals
• Sophie Kenney is ranked 5th in Division II in assist to turnover ratio at 3.05
• The Viking offense has been one of the best in the country the entire season. Augustana currently ranks 30th in Division II in points per game at 74.8
• The Vikings have had great success all season around the basket out rebounding 12 different opponents this season. They currently rank 15th nationally in total rebounds with 1,224 through 29 games
• Augustana has forced the 39th most turnovers during the 2015-16 season at 545 which is an average of 19.73 turnovers per game forced
• Augustana has played in two of the most attended games this season. The most attended game in D2 this season was Northern state and Augie with 4,431 fans. When Augie hosted Mary we had 2,451 fans, the 25th most in Division II this season

MSU MOORHEAD AT A GLANCE
• MSUM enter the second round with a record of 21-5. They finished 17-5 in the NSIC
• In the first round of the conference tournament MSUM defeated Upper Iowa 65-51. They were led by Cassidy Thorson and Heather Strese who each had 13 points
• After the first quarter they were trailing Upper Iowa 16-14
• Since losing to Augustana 74-69 back on Feb. 6, they have won five straight games, scoring at least 74 points in four of those games
• They are outscoring opponents in all four quarters this season and in overtime
• Three Dragons are averaging double-digit points: Morgan Banasik (14.6), Heather Strese (13) and Savanna Handevidt (10.1)
• In neutral site games this season MSUM is 2-0
• As a team they are shooting 40 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range
• They are coached by Karla Nelson who is in her 16th season at MSU Moorhead. She has a career record of 277-176
