SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Former Augustana University baseball student-athletes Jordan Milbrath,
Jack Goihl and
Michael Letkewicz are making their way through the Cleveland Indians' minor league system.
Milbrath is currently a relief pitcher for the Class A Advanced Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League. Goihl (catcher) and Letkewicz (right-handed pitcher) are both on the Class A Short Season Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the New York-Penn League.
The trio are the latest draft picks out of Augustana, who by chance, all landed in Cleveland's farm system. Milbrath is in his third season as a professional. He started his career in the Arizona Rookie League before being assigned to the Lake County Captains (Class A) out of Spring Training in 2014 and 2015. During the 2014 season, Milbrath was selected to the Midwest League All-Star game and in 2016 he was promoted to the Lynchburg Hillcats.
Milbrath has appeared in 101 games as both a relief and starting pitcher during his professional career. He has 14 wins and seven saves, in seven save opportunities, to go along with 281 strikeouts in 339.2 innings pitched. This season for Lynchburg, Milbrath owns a record of 3-3 and an ERA of 3.91. He has made 34 appearances and struck out 57 batters in 53 innings pitched.
Goihl was assigned to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Class A Short Season) in 2015 after being selected in the 28th round of the MLB First-Year Players Draft. Goihl played in 17 games for Mahoning Valley last season and had eight hits, including four doubles while driving in three runs. He has played three games for the Lake County Captains and five games for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2016.
Augustana's most recent draft pick, Letkewicz, has impressed in his first season of professional ball. Letkewicz has made 10 appearances for Mahoning Valley this season and owns a 3-0 record and a 1.29 ERA. He has struck out 15 batters in 21 innings and has allowed just three runs on 13 hits. Indians Baseball Insider writer Corey Crisan recently penned an article on Letkewicz, which can be found
