ROCHESTER, Minn. – Augustana University swimming scored 368 points and finished in fifth out of seven teams at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Swimming and Diving Championship at the Rochester Community Center on Friday. Augustana's
Emma Miller won the 1,650-yard freestyle on Friday to pick up her second individual conference title at the NSIC Championship.
Following the meet, Miller was named the NSIC's Freshman of the Year for her performance at the NSIC Championship. On the first day of competition at the conference championship meet, Miller won the 1,000-yard freestyle.
St. Cloud State won the NSIC Swimming and Diving Championship by 202 points over second-place Minnesota State, Mankato. SCSU finished with 1,069 team points, followed by Minnesota State, Mankato in second (867).
Miller became the first Viking to earn all-conference honors after winning the 1,000-yard freestyle on Monday with an NCAA B-cut and career-high time of 10:26.85. Today, she won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a career-best and NCAA B-cut time of 17:34.24.
Destini Oehlertz advanced to the finals in the 100-yard freestyle for the Vikings. Oehlertz placed sixth overall with a time of 52.66 which is a career-best mark.
Hannah Gonzalez swam in the B Final in the 100-yard freestyle and placed 13th in the event with a time of 54.10.
Linzie Kreizel placed seventh overall in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:06.79 which is her career-best mark in the event.
Paige Knight and
Abby Rubado also competed in the 1,650 freestyle for the Vikings. Knight placed 15th with a time of 18:57.05 and Rubado finished 19th with a time of 20:09.61.
Jojo Lohner competed in the B Final in the 200-yard backstroke and finished 12th overall in the event with a time of 2:10.18.
Grace Porter placed 10th in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:02.71 followed by
Abigail Thorson in 14th (1:05.47) and
Sarah Haberman in 17th (1:05.51).
Augustana's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Oehlertz,
Hannah Gonzalez, Miller and Kreizel placed eighth with a time of 3:35.00 which is a season-best mark for Augustana.
