Women's Basketball to play Winona State Saturday in NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Top-seeded Augustana women's basketball will play No. 5 seed Winona State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament on Saturday. The Vikings and Warriors will be playing at the Sanford Pentagon with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
Tip-Off
• Augustana defeated Minot State 70-61 in the first round of the NSIC Tournament this past Wednesday at the Sanford Pentagon
• The Vikings were led by Logan O'Farrell who had a near quadruple-double with 11-points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 blocks
• This will be Augustana's and Winona State's second straight season meeting in the NSIC Tournament
• Last Season Augustana lost to Winona State twice in the regular season and then upset the Warriors in the Tournament
 
About Augustana
• For the second consecutive season, Logan O'Farrell has been named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year. O'Farrell also earned First Team All-NSIC honors and All-Defensive team honors after her great junior campaign that helped lead the Vikings to their first-ever NSIC South Division title
• To date, O'Farrell ranks seventh on the all-time blocks list at Augustana with 125 in her career and 10th in steals with 204. During her career, O'Farrell has been named the NSIC Player of the Week twice, including once this season. She is an Academic All-NSIC member, two-time member of the NSIC All-Defensive team and was a member of the NSIC All-Freshman team
• Augustana has been the best offensive team in the NSIC this season. The Vikings scoring offense is averaging a league-best 77.2 points per game during the conference season. The closest team to the Vikings in offensive production is MSU Moorhead who is averaging 72.9 ppg. The Vikings offense is also one of the best nationally. They are ranked 22nd out of 308 Division II teams in scoring average this season
•All season Augustana has done a great job protecting the basketball. The Vikings have not only been the best team in the NSIC in total assists, assist-turnover ratio and assists per game, but they rank in the top six of each category on the national level
• Two Vikings are ranked in the top 40 for scoring in the NSIC. Logan has the 26th best scoring average at 11.9 and Naomi Rust ranks 36th with an average of 11.1 ppg in conference play. In rebounding average in the NSIC, Logan ranks 10th in conference play at 7.6 boards per game. Sydney Rome is averaging 1.8 three's pre-game which is the ninth most in NSIC play. Augustana has three players ranked in the top 20 for assists per game average this season. Rome ranks 13th (3.4 ast), Lynsey Prosser ranks 15th (3.0 ast) and Logan ranks 19th (2.6 ast)

Tickets for session two will be $16 for adults and $8 for students. Augustana students will get a free ticket to our game against Winona State when they provide valid Augustana I.D.

• This will be the second straight season that the two teams have played each other in the conference tournament. Augustana won last year's meeting in overtime in the semifinals 85-84 on a last second jumper by Sophie Kenney
